Thought Newport thoroughly deserved to win tonight. They looked the more dangerous side and towards the end the fitter side too as Llanelli never looked like getting an equaliser. Maybe playing consistantly better teams week in week out had something to do with this.

Anyway big turn around from last season's final when TNS outplayed Newport convincingly. Maybe this seasons WPL champions elect are not as good as last seasons?

Newport have played just as many recently, not to forget it was a full time side vs a part time side tonight. Thought Newport thoroughly outclassed Llanelli tonight and deserved the win. Think Craig's onto something with the consistent quality of the opposition - it would explain a lot considering Llanelli tired as Newport took complete control in the last 15 with Newport being against the wind. That said I was suprised just how good Newport were. The only sides in this league that can touch them are being bankrolled and now they're on the verge of conference - I'm really pleased for them. Commiserations to Llanelli with the exception of Rhys Griffiths and Holloway who should have both been sent off, especially Griffiths who lowered the tone right down by clearly (for television cameras if not the ref) punching Paul Cochlin in the head within five minutes of kick off which was disgusting especially given Cochlins recent history.

All in all a solid if unspectacular end to a competition that just never quite seemed to fit in.

I'd begin to question the wisdom of going full time if a full time side plays 5 games in two weeks and loses to a part time side who played 4 games in two weeks and they then choose to complain about being tired.

Having gone there with a Newport fan, I thought that Newport were better on the day and it was one of those games that if Llanelli HAD scored, we would have gone onto have won 0-1. It was terible condition, we couldn't play football by passing the ball, so he hoofed it up (which was also a bad idea in the 1st half), couldn't play the ball long because it ended up back at the keeper! The non-violent fans from Newport agreed that the conditions weren't right for a good game, but never-the-less we tried!

I do agree that we have played some more games than Newport (fact) in recent days - althought the quality of games they encounter on a weekly basis was far better prepareation than what we have had in most recent games. Although considering TNS "are ment to be the better side" or quite possibly - but considering they came to Stebo and we humbled them 4-0, I think I'm being biased but still I know Llanelli were the far better side that night, TNS didn't know what hit them and to be honest we played 80mins of in your face football (the 10mins of awfulness came when we went 1-0 up)!!! Furthermore, I think we out did ourselves against TNS, the power was certainly low against PTT (and lucky to get a win there) and you could see that Newport ran for a whole lot longer, to which is unusual for Reds, we have a very fit team (FT being an advantage). So obviously we have been victims of our own success!

All in all, I'm not too guttee - thought Newport deserved it on the night. Only thing that got my back up is the poor coments above! Anyhow, were £50,000+(give or take TV fees etc) better off than we were perviously I'm sure if you'd given me that option being 2-0 down against Wrexham I would have taken your hand off!!! Need I remind you we then thrashed them 4-2 who are a side much hight than Newport and played a full strength team!!!!

Anyhow, I think the FAWPC needs to be changed (in the wakes of the competition sponcership demise) and perhaps the big three shouldn't be apart of it (maybe Wrexham inc. because they take it seriously comapred to Swans/ Cardiff) and introduce Merthyr & Colwyn - I know that they'd welcome the compatition and prob equal quality compared to WPL clubs!?!?!?!

My comment is suggesting that TNS are not the same side they were last season as much as its a little dig at Llanelli

Congratulations to Newport, great set of fans and friendly club who I wish all the best to intheir push for promotion.

CB - most definately. They had some nice fans in the family area and like the swans they have their harcore supporters, but all in all (even with our Jack condingency) we behaved and so do Newport! I hope they get promoted too, be good for Welsh football!

If the proposed revamped Welsh Cup idea takes off, it won't be necessary to ressurect the Premier Cup.

However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Setanta Sports wanting to get involved in Welsh Football in some form, seeing as they show Irish, Scottish and English Non-League Footie already.

No point in a Premier Cup without the 3 FL league clubs and no real sponsorship. It wouldn't be much more than a League Cup comp with Newport in it.

Bit of a laugh seeing newport out-llanelli llanelli by bundling the ball in over the goal line. Llanelli learned from last season that they will get the results more easily by forcing the game rather than by trying to play mediterranean football. Newport obviously doing the same now.
