I see the WPL fixture planners have come up with another gem.
First they pick Rhyl v Welshpool as their opening live game, which if last seasons game is anything to go by will involve one team sticking 10men behind the ball and kicking it as far up the field as possible when they get it, against an opposition that will press for 90 minutes but will have rapidly run out of ideas by about the 20th.
Then they decide to kick off at 5.15 which just happens to coincide with Man Utd v Aston Villa also live on TV. I wonder which game most people in Wales will be watching

They're oviously banking on people in Wales not having Sky!!
But even if they move it to a Sunday, there's usually about 4 English games to clash with.
The only day there'll be nothing to clash with is a Thursday _________________ Come on the Crows!

What a bad choice of a live match, So many better games to choose from Rhyl v Bangot. Bangor v TNS, Llanelli v TNS, , Llanelli v Rhyl etc.
Havent included Rhyl v TNS, Every game i have seen live between rhyl and tns has been an embarrasment to welsh football. Absolute drab football, I know these are strong words, but honest.
When rhyl play well, They are a very good footballing team, but they dont seem very consistent, Tomorrows game could be dire to watch

How boneheaded can the FAW be? I don't mind which teams play it's just the fact that it clashes with a premiership match, obviously a lot of people will watch the United game instead.
It's the same with midweek League cup games, why do they always have to clash with Champions league games??! There are plenty of weeks without any champions league. _________________ Viv Williams Barmy Army!

To be fair their are premiership or champions leagues games on every day and at every available hour, some of you don't look at the facts but just moan for the sake of it.
Scunthorpe V Liecester also kicked off at the same time roughly as Villa and Man U and their fans aren't having a go at their league.
I personally couldn't give a monkeys about the English premiership, nor the champions league and if people would rather watch that than their local team then I couldn't give a t-ss if I they never came to a WPL game again.
The reason for the poor attendance at Belle Vue Saturday night was nothing to do with what was on tv, more to do with the lack of good football, excitement etc that is being produced by the totally predictable tactics of John Hulse.
I am sure if someone could be bothered looking it up there was probably an English Premiership match on the day we had 2700 for the TNS game live on tv a few years back, the difference being the football then was good to watch.

There's two trains of thought here: 1. the real hard-core fans will turn up no matter what (i'll be watching the Crows play a 3rd divsion side in the Gwent Senior Cup on Wednesday - i believe there's some Champions League Millionaires Cup on the telly). 2. If only the real hard-core fans turn up, there'll be a smaller crowd than normal.
What can we do? I blieve there has to be some consideration when arranging matches - i.e. avoid clashing with internations. But if we consider every other match, we'd never get through our fixture list!!
In hindsight, the WPL should have been launched in the 70s or 80s cos now there's football saturation, and it'll be harder to draw people away from their armchairs!! _________________ Come on the Crows!

Precisely! I know we're all desperate for bigger crowds in this league but having seen the replica shirt wearing, gloryhunting, post-skyTV types who go to the pub to watch liv/utd/chelsea etc maybe we're better off without.

I reckon you're both right. 2004 rhyl/tns was not good football but was good to watch cos it was exciting..whereas there's nothing exciting about trying (and failing..serves them right say all the neutrals) to hold on to a 1-0 lead against a very average team _________________ Syni Rhyl - Cartre Stadiwm 3000 y Gogledd
